Tomorrow we'll be having calico beans. I doubled this recipe and froze it so we'd have some when we wanted it. You seriously throw everything in a bag and TADA! dinner is served/frozen :)
For our 6 quart crock pot:
1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained (you could also use ground turkey)
1 large onion, chopped**
4 cloves of garlic
3 strips cooked bacon, crumbled (we used turkey bacon)**
1 15 oz. can GFDF baked beans
1 15 oz. can kidney beans, drained
1 15 oz. can great northern beans, drained
1 15 oz. can butter beans, drained
1 5 oz. can black beans, drained and rinsed (our daughter LOVES black beans!)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup GFCF ketchup (We used Heinz)
1 T prepared GFCF mustard (We used French's)Salt/Pepper to taste
Mix everything well in a slow cooker. Cover. Cook on low 4-6 hours until flavors are well blended.
** denotes things you can use the food processor for--easy is always good!
